CRRES stands in solidarity with those affected by recent racist events, including the police killing of Tyre Nichols and the Bloomington bus stabbing of an Asian student. As researchers, we know that long histories of anti-Blackness, white supremacy, and xenophobia in the U.S. have led us to the seemingly endless cycle of racist violence we see today. Yet, each event is no less painful.

We hope that our IU communities find the space to process, grieve, and take care of one another during this time. We offer statements in response to the anti-Asian stabbing, which took place so close to our campus, and the brutal murder of Tyre Nichols, which leaves us weary but determined to fight for a better future.
