CRRES Graduate Affiliate Muna Adem has been awarded the Wells Graduate Fellowship for the 2022-2023 academic year. Named for Herman B. Wells, the Wells Fellowship is awarded to those “who demonstrate the qualities for which Chancellor Wells was renowned: leadership abilities, academic excellence, character, social consciousness, and generosity of spirit.”
Muna is a Sociology Ph.D. Candidate whose research examines how immigration shapes and reshapes group boundaries, focusing particularly mechanisms that facilitate or hinder trust, solidarity and cooperation in contemporary diverse societies. Her research has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America and Emerging Adulthood. She is also a past grant recipient and member of the International Chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization that promotes educational opportunities for women.
