CRRES Affiliate Kosali Simon (O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs) was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine. Professor Simon studies health policy, health care, and health-related outcomes, particularly for at-risk populations. Her research has included race and ethnic disparities in COVID-19 hospitalizations, the successes and failures of the Affordable Care Act, and the U.S. opioid drug crisis
The National Academy of Medicine is a private, nonprofit institution that aims to “improve health for all by advancing science, accelerating health equity, and providing independent, authoritative, and trusted advice nationally and globally.” Elected members are recognized experts at the top of their fields who have obtained high levels of professional achievement and demonstrated a commitment to volunteer service.
