Dr. Maisha Wester Awarded Global Professorship from British Academy

Thursday, July 16, 2020

Dr. Maisha Wester

This year Maisha Wester was awarded one of ten prestigious four-year Global Professorships from the British Academy. Global Professorships provide mid-career to senior scholars, active within any discipline from the humanities and social sciences and based in any country overseas, with the opportunity to relocate to the UK for four years to pursue individual research goals while contributing to UK research and higher education. Dr. Wester received the award for her project "The Horrors of Race: The Gothic in Racial Politics."

Maisha Wester is an Associate Professor in the Departments of African American and African Diaspora Studies (AAADS) and American Studies. She also serves as Interim Director of Graduate Studies, African American and African Diaspora Studies. Recently Dr. Wester joined CRRES for a panel discussion in the Confronting Racism series, discussing race and racism in the context of protests and change.

Congratulations to Dr. Maisha Wester!
