Dr. Kosali Simon has published a new article titled, "Tracking Public and Private Responses to the COVID-19 Epidemic: Evidence from State and Local Government Actions" with co-authors Sumedha Gupta, Thuy D. Nguyen, Felipe Lozano Rojas, Shyam Raman, Byungkyu Lee, Ana Bento, and Coady Wing. The article is available at the National Bureau of Economic Research website. In the paper, the authors examine changes in mobility, time spent at home, and government responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. They explore the factors that produce social distancing, finding, for example, that emergency orders were more likely than stay-at-home orders to encourage distancing.
