Dr. Mary Murphy is one of two IU researchers (and only five across the state of Indiana) to receive a 2019 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. She is being honored for her work funded through the National Science Foundation, where she leads a $2.2 million project on how subtle cues influence underrepresented students in STEM. A social psychologist from the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Dr. Murphy is working with IU’s Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) to create training modules for first-time faculty that take these findings into account.
